7 Easy Steps to Creating the Perfect Sock Bun

Oversized sock buns are an ultra-fab and easy way to compliment your birthday ensemble. The sock bun is so classy and goes with every outfit, style or season. It’s difficult to perfect but when you get it right it looks amazing. So Birthday Girls, open your sock drawer and get ready to learn this tutorial.

Need:

• A sock you no longer wear (Tip:When deciding which sock to cut up remember that the longer the sock, the bigger the bun but if you have super long thick hair then a shorter sock will hold your bun stronger.)
• Scissors
• Bobby pins
• Gel
• Hairspray

How to:

1. Cut off the toe-portion of your sock using scissors. Make sure you pull any loose thread or strings away from the cut portion. The clean cut is important so that the threads will not interfere with your hair.

2. Put your hair in a ponytail. Wrap your sock around your hand so it resembles a glove and then slide or pull it through the ponytail.

3. Scrunch the sock down toward the base of the ponytail to create a neater, more snug fit.

4. Hold the sock down at the same time as you’re pull your ponytail upward with the other hand.

5. Tuck the ponytail hair underneath the sock. Hold the ponytail by the base and allow the ends to spill over the sock. Beginning at the bottom, gently tuck the ends underneath the sock, working your way around the bun in a circular fashion. Make sure the ends of your hair are tucked completely underneath the sock.

6. Secure the ends with bobby pins

7. Smooth over any extra baby hair or frizz with gel and lots of hairspray.
