How to Pull a Miley in 3 Easy Steps!

Tis the season of pumpkin spiced lattes! It’s that time of the year again Birthday Girls. Days are getting shorter, sleeves are getting longer, and our beautiful bronze skins are beginning to fade *sighs* Change is in the air and here at Birthday Girl, we embrace change! If your birthday happens to fall in the month of September, why not rock a new look while celebrating your new age? Celebrities from Beyoncé to Victoria Justice to Kelly Ripa have all joined along the latest craze, short hair! Long gone are the days of mermaid tresses. So put your hair extensions in that box of bathing suits going in your attic for the next couple of months because you won’t need them!

Short hair has many benefits, huge one being it's ability to cut in half the time it takes to get ready in the morning. Ladies, we've all been there, standing in front of the mirror, using our brushes, straightening irons, and curling items to try and tame the beast known as our hair. Kudos to our girl Ms. Cyrus for chopping off her long locks and always coming up with new ways to style her bob. She is always pushing the envelope and never afraid to take a risk which is something we truly admire about her. We've come up with some great ideas how to rock a short do like Miley but they do not involve teddy bears, foam fingers, or Robin Thicke (unfortunately). Check out how to achieve our new favorite fall look below that you can rock out on your birthday, going to class, or a night out with the girls.

1.     First step is to take the trip to the hairdresser. This is the hardest part for most girls to do but at the end of it, you’ll feel like you just had a weight lifted off your shoulders, literally! Bobs that fall above the shoulders are a great way to change up your look if you still want to have some length. An asymmetrical bob also allows you keep length but is styled so hair is shorter on one side and longer on the other. (See Beyoncé & Kimberly Caldwell) If you’re more on the daredevil side, get a pixie cut! Pixies are edgy and super convenient for the on-the-go lady. Join the array celebrities that have decided to take on this look, such as Miley, Rihanna, Emma Watson, and Anne Hathaway. 

 2.     Now that you got the cut, add a color to it! A solid bold color will make your face POP. Skip the extra money on highlights or the ombre because one tone hair is back. Try this technique, if you have light eyes, go for a dark hair color and if you have dark eyes, go for a light hair color. Contrasts bring out your features and bring people drawn to your beautiful eyes. 

3.     This is the fun stage Birthday Girls, styling your new hair. The beauty of short hair is anything works! Grab some gel and sleek your hair up, or down, or to the side. Make it super curly or just add some subtle waves. The possibilities are endless! The messy bed head works on short hair because it gives the look a rock star edge.
